Concert Bands
Band ConceptsBand Concepts includes all students grades 9-12, and meets daily during semester one. Experiences include: Advanced performance-based corps style marching and music, pep band music and concert band music culminating in the District Festival of Bands. This course emphasizes learning about music through a variety of literature and enjoyable musical and character building experiences. Enrollment in Band Concepts is REQUIRED for participation in Jazz Combo, Jazz Ensemble, and any of the following second semester Band Course.
Concert Band
The Oak Creek High School Concert Band includes all Freshman and Sophomores and meets daily during the second semester. Emphasis is placed on fundamentals of rhythm, technique, and tone. Course experiences include: Mid Level Concert Band literature, pep band, solo/ensemble, music theory and small group help sessions. Performance responsibilities include rehearsals, performances, and sectionals.
Symphonic Band
Symphonic Band includes some Sophomores and most Juniors, and meets daily during the second semester. Emphasis is placed on intonation, tone quality, and ensemble balance. Course experiences include: Mid to High Level Symphonic Band literature, pep band, solo/ensemble, music theory and small group help sessions. Performance responsibilities include rehearsals, performances, and sectionals.
Wind EnsembleWind Ensemble some Juniors and all Seniors and meets daily during the second semester. This course combines the musical knowledge gained from Band Concepts, Concert Band, and Symphonic Band to generate an advanced musical ensemble sound. Course experiences include: High Level Wind Ensemble Literature, pep band, solo/ensemble, music theory and small group help sessions. Performance responsibilities include rehearsals, performances, and sectionals.
