Jazz Ensemble

Jazz Ensembles Participation is based on Instrumentation and is open to students grades 9-12. The Jazz Ensembles are extra-curricular ensembles that focus on jazz and big-band music. They are made up of all students Freshmen-Seniors, and meet after school 2-4 times a week starting in November.

Ensemble experiences include: Medium to Advanced Jazz Literature, improvisation exercises, jazz theory, solo/ensemble, and an outside of school performance. Performance responsibilities include rehearsals, performances, and sectionals.

Jazz Combo

Jazz Combo consists of mainly upper-classmen, and meets daily during the first and second semester.  Emphasis is placed on individual performance experiences and soloistic, improvisational and theoretical aspects of Jazz and Be-bop literature. 

Ensemble experiences include:  Medium to Advanced Jazz Combo Literature, improvisation exercises, listening assignments, music theory, solo/ensemble, and external performances.  Performance responsibilities include independent practice, rehearsals, performances, and sectionals.
